What can I rent, and can I rent both together?

You can rent the Hapro Traxer 6.6 roof box (410 L), the Thule VeloCompact 926 bike carrier (3 bikes, max 2 e-bikes), or both together as a bundle at a discounted rate.

What are the rental requirements?

You must be 24 or older and show a valid ID at pickup. For the bike carrier, your vehicle needs a type-approved towbar with a 13-pin socket. For the roof box, you need roof bars rated for the load. Maximum loads are 75 kg for the roof box and 60 kg total (25 kg per bike) for the carrier.

How much does it cost?

Rates are shown live on the rental page and depend on how long you rent for, with day, week and weekend pricing. A refundable security deposit also applies: €250 per item, or €400 for the bundle.

Is there a minimum rental period?

Yes, the minimum rental is 1 day, with at least 24 hours' notice before pickup.

Question 5

Where are you located, and where do I collect the equipment?

Pickup and return are in person in Voorburg, at an agreed time, typically between 9am and 8pm.

How does booking work?

You submit a request with your dates through the website. We confirm availability and accept it, then send a payment request. This is a request, not a confirmed booking, until we accept it.

How and when do I pay?

Once your request is accepted, you'll get a payment link covering the rental fee and deposit together in one payment. Pay within 48 hours of receiving the link, or at least 8 hours before pickup for last-minute bookings, otherwise the booking may be cancelled.

Can I book from outside the Netherlands?

Automated booking currently covers the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. For any other country, email info@justroam.nl with your dates and we'll arrange a booking manually.

Question 9

What happens to the security deposit?

The deposit is refundable and is returned after the equipment is checked and found undamaged and complete, normally within 2 business days of return.

Can I change my booking after it's been accepted?

While your request is still pending review, you can edit the item, dates or your details yourself via the link in your confirmation email. Once it's approved, contact us directly for any changes.

What's your cancellation policy?

While pending approval, cancellation is free. Once approved, it's free more than 1 week before pickup, 50% of the rental fee within 1 week but more than 48 hours before pickup, and 80% within 48 hours. The deposit is always refunded in full on cancellation.

Question 12

What if I damage the equipment or it's lost or stolen?

For accidental loss, theft or damage beyond normal wear, you're liable up to the amount of your security deposit. That cap doesn't apply if it results from negligence (e.g. leaving the equipment unlocked) or wilful misconduct, in which case you're liable for the full replacement value. If the equipment is stolen, report it to the local police immediately and notify us at info@justroam.nl within 24 hours.

Is the equipment insured?

The equipment is not covered by any insurance held by JustRoam during the rental period. It's rented entirely at your own risk, subject to the liability cap above. Any damage to your own vehicle or third parties from fitting or using the equipment is your responsibility.

Question 14

Where can I use the roof box or bike carrier?

Accepted Answer

The equipment may only be used within the EU, United Kingdom, Switzerland and Norway, for normal road use. Off-road, competition or commercial use is not permitted.

Question 15

Will you help fit the equipment to my car?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we'll fit the equipment for you at pickup, as long as your car already has suitable roof bars or a towbar installed. You may be asked to help.

What if I return the equipment late?

Late returns may be charged at the daily rate, per started day, and can affect the next renter's booking.
